Turquoise and copper glazes
There are quite a few variations on the turquoise /
copper glaze
Transparent turquoise
High alkali frit 85
China clay 15
Copper oxide 2
This is a bright turquoise blue in oxidation and will give a good metallic
copper and a lot of other colours in reduction.

reduced for about 45 minutes. |
Blue green
High alkali frit 85
China clay 15
Tin oxide 5
Red iron oxide 3
Copper carbonate 4
As you add iron to the copper based glazes the colour shifts from blue
to blue-green to green turquoise.
You can play around with the ratios of copper to iron to get a colour
that pleases you.
It is not essential to use the tin, but if you are firing over a high
iron body you will find that the opacifying properties of the tin stops
the body colour from getting into the glaze.
These glazes are excellent on porcelain.
